Pretty disappointed with the gameplay videos to be honest, looks pretty identical to the last 5 years. Why don't they just give the game a complete rehaul? It's what it has needed for the past so many years now.

I heard you can use paint tool for logos, aprons, banners etc, so you should be able to do quite a bit.

That roster came..all of a sudden. Have IGN been doing them 1 by 1 this year or given up now?

Road Warriors, Demolition or McGillicutty & Otunga?

IGN hasn't been SvR's home for a while now.

Heath Slater and Mason Ryan.

Yeah. It does look the same, which sucks. They say they made all these changes and rehauled the controls, but it doesn't look like it.

That should be cool. But I'm more worried about how much you can edit on the structure.

I hope Slater gets the "I hate you Heath Slater!" chant. CM Punk a 95 overall, eh? While Christian gets bitched out at 87.

I must say, I'm always a fan of the layout on the website. The stylish thumbnails, videos and stats. If only the game was that professional. :joel:

EDIT: Just noticed Punk has Cult of Personality. Awesome.

Anyone remember the old WCW Nitro game where you could unlock new 'arenas', and they were things like jungles, spaceships etc. So freakin' awesome. Man I loved that game.

To be honest, that No Mercy looks more realistic than Smackdown.

Shame I've never had a chance to play the game (only owned a PS1).

Hunter mate you've no idea what you missed. Only the greatest wrestling game series of all time. Nitro was a complete abomination.

My love for AKI wrestling games need not be declared again. All I'll say is this - it's a travesty No Mercy was released almost 11 years ago, and AKI have not had the chance to make another wrestling game. Apparently AKI would love another crack but they need a publisher to gain a licence so they can't afford it themselves. They were progressing year-on-year. No Mercy was a massive step-up from Wrestlemania 2000 and even Virtual Pro Wrestling 2. They would have reached absolute perfection sooner rather than later. And you don't need hyper-realistic graphics, just great gameplay. Imagine No Mercy on newer consoles with 8 characters on screen, and all the match types and the customizable features of the Smackdown games. Pains me greatly to think of what might have been. I'd have gladly taken more Japanese games (Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 is incredible) but we got fuck all.

To be fair those arenas looks fantastic, great feature.

The arenas do look nice. The old school barricades are a great touch.

If AKI ever make another wrestling game, I'll be crying for joy. The first one I played was WCW vs NWO Revenge. So awesome.

Yukes really need to fuck off now.

As you know I've no love for modern wrestling but I'd kill for one even with a current WWE setting. But that Legends of Wrestlemania game a few years back - that was the big chance. Old school setting should have equated to old school gameplay, THQ/WWE really missed a trick there. An AKI game with an 80s/90s theme - that's the ideal.

I did hear one story about Vince being displeased with AKI because they abandoned a sequel to No Mercy on the N64 - WWE Backlash - without his consent, as the feeling was that the N64 was obselete and they should move on to the next generation of consoles. Apparently though the WWE had already put a lot of money into development, which they lost. Vince was pissed and declared he'd never do work with the developer again. Personally though I think this is bollocks. I've only heard it on one forum and that was only recently, I think it would be more widespread if true.

Yet Undertaker doesn't have Ain't No Grave.

I expect when he returns he'll be back to his regular theme. So it may be more up-to-date than we realise!

Only 7 divas listed on the roster page; surely there's more? No Bellas, Alicia Fox etc? No complaints if it means more legends though.

I'm very interested to see how they do the Demolition Decapitation - I don't think it's been in a game before? (I might be wrong). Though given that this is Yukes, I expect they'll fuck it up and that the victim won't go right over. Of course not every Decapitation ended up this way, but the 180 ones were always the best and most devastating-looking.

This was the best ever, not just because it was on the outside, but because Martel sells it absolutely brilliantly, especially with the lying prone and face-down afterwards. One of my favourite executions of any move ever, it looks fantastic. The initial chair shot also looks rather nasty. He would be out for eight months after this, so the angle needed to be done well, and it certainly was (from about 8 minutes):

Michael Cole and Trish Stratus got announced last night too.

There's one "secret" superstar that they're holding back on announcing - news reports say that work has been done at THQ to create Lesnar for it, and he'd be the surprise.

My guess would be Randy Savage.

I expect when he returns he'll be back to his regular theme. So it may be more up-to-date than we realise!

That may be true. Plus, they probably would have had to pay more to use Ain't No Grave and he's not even around right now.

I actually think they did a good job for once on the upto date wrestlers side of things.

The closest thing they had to Demolition Decapitation was instead of the elbow, they used a leg drop. Can't remember if they done a 180 or just fell flat though.

One great thing about Demolition, is that they have their entrance gear. If I get this (most likely), I'm definitely downloading an old school arena and then having series of matches between Demolition and LOD. IF they aren't going to change the gameplay, then I hope they at least up the AI difficulty.
